Gmail lets you to copy all your mails, contacts from other popular mail applications like Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL and other webmail and pop3 mail servers.

If you are planning to change your primary email address to Gmail then this is the best option to move all your mails and contacts.

To start the import process

1. Login to your Gmail account and click the Settings link.
2. Under the Accounts and Import tab, click the Import mail and contacts button.
3. In the new window that opens, enter the Yahoo/Hotmail/AOL/POP3 email address of the account you’d like to import contacts from. ClickContinue.
4. Enter the password for your other email account and click Continue.

 

5. This will open a new window with four options – import contacts, import mail, import new mail for next 30 days and add label to all imported mail. Click on the options you want and click start import.

The entire import process will take 1-2 days. Once it is completed all your mails/contacts will appear in  the Gmail Account.

Similarly in Hotmail and Yahoo there is an option to import contacts from other email accounts.
