Twitter to open Firehose to developers, Twitter apps at 50,000

Twitter’s Director of Platform Ryan Sarver announced today that Twitter is going to allow developers to access its core data stream called Firehose by early next year. Even though now developers are able to access twitter tweets and other data via twitter API, currently it is limited.

Twitter developers will get more power once the Firehose becomes publicly available. Sarver also said that total number of Web Applications based on Twitter API reached 50,000.

Twitter will be launching a new website for developers with dashboard and tutorials. Also Twitter is going to increase the current Twitter API OAuth request limits soon.

Fine Tune Web Apps with Google Speed Tracer

Speed Tracer is the latest offering from Google to analyze and fix problems with web apps.

To use Speed Tracer you have to move to Chrome developer channel first. Download and execute  Google Chrome Channel Switcher to change to Developer Channel.

Now start Chrome with extension and api support with this flag –enable-extension-timeline-api

Either you can start this from command prompt by typing the full path like

C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Chrome –enable-extension-timeline-api

or right click on the Google chrome shortcut go to properties and enter this in the target text box so that every time chrome will start with this setting.

BSNL Slashes Roaming Rates

Indian Telecom sector is witnessing dramatic changes as more and more operators enter the market and existing players come up unprecedented offers to attract more customers.

After Bharti Airtel slashed roaming rates last week, yesterday state run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) announced a reduction in roaming rates – call rates when the customer is outside the home circle.

As per the announcement BSNL slashed roaming rates to 49 paisa per minute or 1 paisa per second depends on the plan selected. This is a major reduction in the BSNL roaming rates compared to the old rates – Re 1 and Rs 1.5 per minute.

Last week Uninor – a joint venture between Unitech and Telenor launched its GSM services in India. Arab world’s major player Etisalat is planning to launch its service in India soon.

New Google Adsense Interface

Google has launched a new adsense interface with charts and more detailed performance reports about impressions, clicks, ad performance, impressions, and earnings from the Adsense program.

In the new layout (still in beta), many improvements are visible in all sections and is far better compared to the old text only interface. At last Google decided to give a more improved interface to Adsense customers which was due for a long time.

The new Adsense Interface gives more detailed performance details and has option to display earnings and performance details in charts.

Chart section is somewhat similar to Google Analytics. You can set a review period ranging from single day to weeks to months or years in the vertical axis. In the horizontal axis it can be grouped to days, weeks or months.

Overall it is a very neat interface and gives much more details compared to the old interface and will help you to manage your Adsense account more efficiently.
