India’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch its ultra low cost car Maruti Cervo by December 2010 to compete with Tata Nano and other upcoming ultra low cost cars from other car manufacturers like Bajaj.

Maruti 800 revolutionized the small car industry in India when it was launched in 1984 and more than 25 lakh Maruti 800 cars sold so far. Now Maruti Alto replaced 800’s position –even though it is priced little high and with more features compared to 800, Alto is top selling models now.

But Tata Nano created a new segment where Maruti doesn’t have any product to match the price tag. Now Maruti is going to fill that space with Maruti Cervo which is going to be priced to suit this segment.

Maruti Suzuki has not officially disclosed the pricing and other details about Cervo but here is the expected features and pricing details.

Maruti Cervo Price : 1.5 to 2 Lakhs

Maruti Cervo is a five door hatchback model design with 0.7L 660cc petrol engine with a maximum power of 60bhp and top torque of 64Nm.

Maruti Suzuki is expected to price this entry level hatchback very aggressively and with maximum features possible to meet the growing threat from other vendors in this segment.
