Anti-virus experts warned about a new virus which affects smartphones based on Google Android operating system named Geinimi. Many Android based smartphones in China reported to be affected by this new virus.
As per security experts this is the first major virus targeting Android platform after Google released the OS in 2008.
Android version 1.0 was released in Sep 2008 and after that it went through many major changes and versions like 1.5 (Cupcake), 1.6 (Donut), 2.0 and 2.1 (Éclair), 2.2 (Froyo) and the latest stable version is Gingerbread 2.3.1. New version Honeycomb is scheduled to release by March 2011.
Once the Android phone is affected by the Geinimi virus/malware then the hacker can take control of the mobile phone and steal important user data.
