Hyundai India Today launched its much awaited Hyundai Eon entry level small car which is designed exclusively for India market.

With Eon Hyundai is directly targeting Maruti Suzuki’s Alto – the best seller in this segment in India.

Hyundai Eon comes with a 814cc, 3 cylinder, 9 valve SOHC petrol engine with maximum power of 56ps at 5500rpm and maximum torque of 7.6kgm at 4000rpm and 5 speed manual transmission.

As per the company documents it is promised to give a mileage of 21kmpl.

Eon’s main features are fuel efficient engine, gear shift indicator, alternator management system, reinforced structure, drive airbag, keyless entry and central locking, internally adjustable outside mirrors, power windows, font fog lamps, body color door handles and mirrors, MDPS with tilt steering, air conditioner, rear parcel tray etc

Skoda Auto India – wholly owned subsidiary of Czech car maker Skoda which is part of Volkswagen group – on Friday started production of its new entry level sedan Skoda Rapid in its Chakan plant near Pune.

Sokda Rapid is expected to come with a 1598cc, 4 cylinder, 8 valve petrol engine with 105bhp maximum power and 153nm maximum torque and 1598cc, 4 Cylinder, 8 Valve – 105 Bhp power and 250 Nm torque diesel engine in 3 variants – Active, Ambition and Elegance.

Rapid is the first car from the Skoda brand which has been designed for Indian customers and will be exclusively manufactured in India.

Skoda Rapid sedan is expected to reach Indian car showrooms soon and it is going to compete with Honda City, Volkswagen Vento, Hyundai Verna and Maruti SX4.

Maruti Suzuki India Today launched a modified version of its top selling car Swift with a price tag starting from 4.22 lakhs in India.

The new Maruti Swift will come in 6 variants – Maruti Swift LDi, Maruti Swift ZDi, Maruti Swift VXi, Maruti Swift ZXi, Maruti Swift LXi, and Maruti Swift Vdi.

Nissan Motor India Private Ltd yesterday launched its mid-sized premium sedan Sunny in India at an official function in Mumbai.

The car is expected by October 2011 Indai’s main festival season – will be available in both petrol and diesel version and will be manufactured at Nissan’s Chennai Oragadam plant.
